The Kingwood Park Panthers girls soccer team may have three games left to play in its district slate, but the Lady Panthers have been dominant enough that with a 3-0-1 stretch over the last two weeks, they clinched the 21-5A district title Friday night.

It was clinched thanks to a 2-0 win over the Porter Spartans, as the Panthers swept the Spartans to not only clinch the district but notch the program’s 200th win.

On Feb. 22, the Panthers defeated Lake Creek 8-1, thanks to a balanced attack which saw seven different Kingwood Park players get on the scoreboard.

Aliyah Bustamante, Allie Byrd, Emily Georgy, Leah Hoyt, Claire Jimerson, Kathleen Ortiz and Bella Salazar all scored for the Panthers in the decisive win.

In the next game against Tomball March 1, which ended up being the toughest of the last four games played, the Panthers ended up with a 1-1 draw.

Jacqui Daspit ended up with a goal off a corner kick to ensure the Panthers of a tie.

Tomball is currently the second place team in the district.

Then, in their two games last week, the Panthers got back into the win column with a pair of shutouts, including the Porter win.

Last Tuesday night at Kingwood Park, the Lady Panthers shut out New Caney 5-0.

Byrd, Hoyt, Jimerson and Marilyn Perri scored for the Panthers in the win.

In the 2-0 district clinching win at Porter Friday night, Byrd powered the Lady Panthers offense as she scored both goals in the victory.

With the district title and number one seed for the playoffs locked up, the Panthers will now enjoy spring break, then close out the regular season with two more matches.
